21st Century Recipes and the Microwave
In the past twenty years or so technology has increased so much it is hard to imagine a world without the internet, DVD player and even super modern fridge freezers. This type of appliance has not just changed the way we live our lives but also the world in general. For example, the kitchen, how much has this changed in the past twenty years? If someone said to you in 1975 that you would be cooking food using radiation they would have thought you mad and told you to go to the doctor! Like it or loathe it the technology is growing all the time and people can now utilise the latest kitchen appliance to cook meals in a fraction of the time of yesteryear.
Of all the appliances that have revolutionised the kitchen in modern times the most significant must be the microwave oven. This white or metallic box that sits upon the work surface packs a mighty punch and can also contain extras such as grill and convection oven in addition to its traditional function. Although this wonder of modern technology was first used to reheat meals and cook 'TV Dinners' it can now do almost anything that a traditional cooker can do. Bake pastry, grill sausages and even fry eggs! It is fair to say that the vast majority of people would be absolutely lost without this kitchen gem and spend a lot more time in the kitchen.
